About the Role
Our client is looking for a visionary Lead Grid Modernization Engineer to spearhead their efforts in Cambridge . This role is at the forefront of transforming the UK's electricity grid to accommodate renewable energy sources, improve reliability, and enhance efficiency. You will be responsible for the strategic planning and technical oversight of grid modernization initiatives, including smart grid technologies and distributed energy resource integration. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategies for grid modernization, focusing on smart grid technologies, automation, and data analytics.
- Lead the technical design and integration of advanced metering infrastructure (AMI), grid sensors, and control systems.
- Analyze grid performance data to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions for enhanced reliability and efficiency.
- Collaborate with utility partners, technology providers, and regulatory bodies on grid modernization projects.
- Oversee pilot projects and the scaling of new technologies across the network.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of grid engineers.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in power systems engineering, with a strong focus on grid modernization and smart grid technologies .
- Proven experience with technologies such as SCADA, DER management systems, and grid analytics.
- In-depth understanding of power system operations, protection, and control.
- Experience with project management and leading technical teams.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
