About the Role
Our client is searching for an innovative and experienced Lead Grid Modernization Engineer to join their fully remote team. In this critical role, you will spearhead the design and implementation of next-generation smart grid technologies aimed at enhancing the efficiency, reliability, and resilience of the UK's electricity network. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the technical roadmap for grid modernization initiatives, focusing on smart grid technologies, automation, and data analytics.
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers in the design, simulation, and implementation of advanced grid control systems and communication networks.
- Evaluate and select appropriate technologies for grid upgrades, ensuring interoperability and scalability.
- Collaborate with research institutions and technology partners to stay abreast of emerging trends and innovations in grid modernization.
- Ensure that all implemented solutions comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and our client's strategic objectives for a robust and future-proof grid.
Requirements
- PhD or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Over 8 years of professional experience in power systems engineering, with a strong focus on grid modernization and smart grid technologies.
- Proven experience in leading engineering teams and managing complex technical projects, preferably in a remote or distributed environment.
- In-depth knowledge of SCADA systems, distributed energy resources (DER) integration, microgrids, and power electronics.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking capabilities, coupled with exceptional communication skills for remote collaboration.
