About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly accomplished and forward-thinking Lead Industrial Engineer to spearhead operational excellence initiatives in their Birmingham facility. This leadership position demands a strategic approach to optimising manufacturing processes, enhancing supply chain efficiency, and driving significant cost reductions through innovative engineering solutions. You will be responsible for guiding a team of engineers, setting ambitious performance targets, and ensuring the seamless integration of new technologies and methodologies. This is a critical role for an experienced leader who is passionate about operational efficiency and making a tangible impact on industrial performance in the heart of the UK's manufacturing sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of all industrial engineering functions within the Birmingham site.
- Develop and execute strategic plans for operational efficiency, including Lean, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies.
- Manage, mentor, and develop a team of industrial engineers, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Oversee the analysis of production data, capacity planning, and resource allocation to optimise workflow and throughput.
- Collaborate with senior management to define operational goals and align engineering strategies with business objectives.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and quality standards across all operational processes.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in industrial engineering, with at least 3 years in a lead or management capacity.
- Demonstrated expertise in implementing Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt preferred), and other continuous improvement frameworks.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven track record of driving measurable improvements in production efficiency and cost reduction.
- Experience with supply chain optimisation, facility layout design, and work-study techniques.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and direct a technical team.
