Lead Information Security Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished Lead Information Security Engineer to spearhead their security engineering efforts in Derby . In this senior position, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of the organization's security infrastructure, ensuring it is robust, scalable, and effective against advanced threats. You will lead a team of security engineers, set technical direction, and drive innovation in security solutions. This is a key role for an experienced engineer who can provide technical leadership and strategic vision to protect critical digital assets.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, deployment, and management of advanced security technologies and infrastructure.
• Develop and enforce security engineering standards and best practices across the organization.
• Oversee the implementation of network security, endpoint security, and cloud security solutions.
• Mentor and guide junior security engineers, fostering technical excellence within the team.
• Collaborate with IT architecture and development teams to integrate security into the SDLC.
• Conduct security architecture reviews and provide expert technical guidance on security matters.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related engineering field.
• 7+ years of experience in information security engineering, with at least 2 years in a lead or supervisory role.
• Proven expertise in designing and implementing complex security solutions (e.g., firewalls, WAFs, SIEM, IAM).
• Deep understanding of cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP) and infrastructure security.
• Experience with scripting for automation and infrastructure as code.
• Strong leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills.
