About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished Lead Level Designer to guide their level design team in Nottingham . You will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and implementing engaging and memorable game environments that drive the player experience. This role requires a blend of artistic vision, technical skill, and leadership to ensure levels are not only aesthetically pleasing but also mechanically sound and fun to navigate. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the level design team, providing direction, mentorship, and feedback on environment creation.
• Design and implement compelling game levels, ensuring engaging player flow, pacing, and difficulty progression.
• Collaborate closely with game designers, artists, and programmers to realise the level's artistic and functional vision.
• Utilize level editing tools and game engines (e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity) to build and iterate on game environments.
• Create detailed documentation, blockouts, and prototypes for levels.
• Conduct playtesting sessions and use feedback to refine level design and player experience.

Requirements

• Minimum of 6 years of experience in level design , with at least 2 years in a lead or senior role.
• A strong portfolio showcasing innovative and well-executed level designs for commercial games.
• Proficiency with level editing tools and game engines such as Unreal Engine or Unity.
• Deep understanding of player psychology, pacing, environmental storytelling, and spatial design.
• Experience in scripting or basic programming for level interactions is a plus.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
