About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and visionary Lead Machine Learning Engineer to spearhead their AI initiatives in Newcastle upon Tyne . You will be instrumental in designing, building, and deploying scalable machine learning systems that drive key business decisions and enhance product capabilities. This leadership role involves guiding a team of talented engineers, setting technical direction, and fostering a culture of innovation and best practices in MLOps. You will work closely with product management and other engineering leads to translate complex business problems into effective, data-driven solutions, ensuring the robustness and performance of deployed models in a critical, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and deployment of production-grade machine learning models and pipelines.
- Define and implement MLOps best practices for model training, deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
- Mentor and manage a team of ML engineers, providing technical guidance and career development support.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into ML solutions.
- Architect scalable and efficient ML infrastructure on cloud platforms.
- Evaluate and integrate new technologies and methodologies to improve ML systems.
Requirements
- Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of experience in machine learning engineering, with at least 2 years in a lead or senior role.
- Strong expertise in ML algorithms, statistical modeling, and data mining techniques.
- Proficiency in Python and ML libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects and mentor technical teams effectively.
