Lead Maintenance Engineer (Electrical Focus) Standard Monday to Friday days Up to £56,500 per annum
A well-established manufacturer with an excellent reputation is seeking a Lead Maintenance Engineer with a strong electrical focus to join their production team.
The Role
We are looking for an experienced maintenance professional who thrives in a fast-paced production environment. You will combine strong electrical and multi-skilled technical expertise with excellent problem-solving skills, and take a lead role in maintaining the highest standards of equipment performance and safety. Leading and mentoring others is a core part of the role; formal management experience is beneficial but not essential.
Main Duties and Responsibilities You will take ownership of critical production machinery and drive performance excellence through:
Maintenance & Operations:
- Plan and execute comprehensive preventive and reactive maintenance across all production equipment, with a strong emphasis on electrical systems
- Lead fault finding, diagnosis and repair of electrical issues
- Optimise machine performance, safety and availability
- Set up and operate production equipment to specification
- Maintain high-quality tooling and spare parts inventory
Leadership & Team Support:
- Provide day-to-day leadership, guidance and mentoring to other maintenance team members
- Support shift handovers and clear communication with manufacturing teams
- Act as a key technical point of contact for electrical and multi-skilled issues
Performance & Improvement:
- Actively participate in Lean Manufacturing initiatives and continuous improvement projects
- Analyse performance data to identify and justify process enhancements
The Candidate
Essential Qualifications & Skills:
- 3+ years’ hands-on engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong electrical skills with proven practical experience in fault finding, repairs and maintenance
- Experience with pneumatics
- Proven experience with production equipment setup and fault diagnosis
- Demonstrable leading or mentoring skills (formal management experience is beneficial)
Nice to Have:
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)
- PLC experience (diagnostics and troubleshooting)
