About the Role
Our client is seeking an accomplished Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to spearhead their design initiatives in Birmingham . Key Responsibilities
- Lead the entire lifecycle of mechanical design projects, from initial concept generation through to final production support.
- Develop and refine detailed engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications using advanced CAD software.
- Perform complex finite element analysis (FEA) and other simulations to predict and validate design performance under various conditions.
- Manage and coordinate the work of design engineers and technicians, ensuring timely project completion and adherence to standards.
- Identify and implement innovative design solutions to improve product functionality, reliability, and manufacturability.
- Liaise with procurement, manufacturing, and quality assurance departments to ensure seamless product realization.
Requirements
- MSc or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Over 10 years of progressive experience in mechanical design, with at least 3 years in a lead or supervisory role.
- Expertise in using advanced CAD/CAE tools for design, analysis, and optimization.
- Deep knowledge of mechanical components, materials selection, and modern manufacturing techniques.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and a track record of successfully delivering complex engineering projects.
- Strong analytical thinking and effective communication skills for stakeholder engagement.
