Lead Mechanical Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client, a dynamic engineering firm in Bristol , is seeking a highly experienced Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to guide their design teams and shape product innovation. You will be responsible for overseeing the mechanical design process, mentoring engineers, and ensuring the successful delivery of complex engineering projects from concept to market launch. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of mechanical design engineers, providing technical guidance and project oversight.
• Drive the mechanical design process for new product development, from ideation through to production release.
• Develop and implement best practices in CAD design , simulation, and testing methodologies.
• Collaborate with product management, electrical engineering, and manufacturing to define product requirements and ensure successful integration.
• Conduct rigorous design reviews, risk assessments, and DFM/DFA (Design for Manufacture/Assembly) analyses.
• Contribute to strategic planning and technology roadmap development for mechanical engineering.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in mechanical design, with at least 3 years in a lead or supervisory role .
• Expertise in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo) and simulation tools (FEA, CFD).
• Proven track record of successfully launching complex mechanical products.
• Strong understanding of various manufacturing processes (machining, injection molding, sheet metal).
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
