About the Role
Our client is looking for a strategic and hands-on Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to spearhead their design initiatives at their Derby facility. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of mechanical design engineers and technicians, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Oversee the entire design lifecycle, from concept generation and feasibility studies to detailed design and product validation.
- Ensure designs meet all technical specifications, performance requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Drive the adoption of advanced design tools, simulation technologies , and best practices within the team.
- Collaborate closely with manufacturing, R&D, and marketing departments to align design efforts with business objectives.
- Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets effectively to ensure successful project delivery.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in mechanical design and engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Expertise in 3D CAD software (e.g., Inventor, SolidWorks) and simulation tools (FEA, CFD).
- In-depth knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and product development methodologies.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate engineering teams to achieve ambitious goals.
- Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
