About the Role

Our client is seeking a dynamic Lead Mechanical Engineer to direct their industrial machinery design and development efforts in Sheffield . Key Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design and development of complex industrial machinery, from conceptualization to commissioning.
• Manage and mentor a team of mechanical engineers, providing technical direction and project oversight.
• Develop detailed designs using advanced CAD software and ensure they meet all performance and safety requirements.
• Conduct rigorous stress analysis , vibration analysis, and failure mode effects analysis (FMEA).
• Collaborate with electrical engineers, control system programmers, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration and production.
• Oversee the procurement of components and materials, managing supplier relationships and ensuring quality.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives for machinery design and manufacturing processes.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Over 9 years of experience in mechanical engineering design , with a significant focus on industrial machinery .
• Proven experience in leading engineering teams and managing complex design projects.
• Expertise in 3D CAD software (e.g., Inventor, SolidWorks) and engineering simulation tools.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, material science, and industrial safety standards.
• Excellent project management, problem-solving, and communication skills.
