About the Role
Our client is seeking a dynamic Lead Mechanical Engineer to direct their industrial machinery design and development efforts in Sheffield . This senior position requires a proven leader to manage a team of engineers, overseeing the creation of robust and efficient machinery solutions for various manufacturing sectors. You will be instrumental in driving technical innovation, ensuring the highest standards of performance, safety, and reliability. This is a critical role for an experienced engineer looking to make a significant impact on industrial processes and product development.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical design and development of complex industrial machinery, from conceptualization to commissioning.
- Manage and mentor a team of mechanical engineers, providing technical direction and project oversight.
- Develop detailed designs using advanced CAD software and ensure they meet all performance and safety requirements.
- Conduct rigorous stress analysis , vibration analysis, and failure mode effects analysis (FMEA).
- Collaborate with electrical engineers, control system programmers, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration and production.
- Oversee the procurement of components and materials, managing supplier relationships and ensuring quality.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives for machinery design and manufacturing processes.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Over 9 years of experience in mechanical engineering design , with a significant focus on industrial machinery .
- Proven experience in leading engineering teams and managing complex design projects.
- Expertise in 3D CAD software (e.g., Inventor, SolidWorks) and engineering simulation tools.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, material science, and industrial safety standards.
- Excellent project management, problem-solving, and communication skills.
