Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and synthesis of novel chemical entities with desired pharmacological profiles.
• Develop and implement creative synthetic routes for complex target molecules.
• Collaborate closely with computational chemists, biologists, and ADME/Tox scientists to optimize lead compounds.
• Manage project timelines, resources, and deliverables for medicinal chemistry initiatives.
• Conduct thorough literature reviews and patent searches to inform project strategy.
• Present research findings and project updates to internal teams and senior management.

Requirements

• PhD in Organic or Medicinal Chemistry with a strong publication record.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in medicinal chemistry within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
• Demonstrated success in leading drug discovery projects and delivering optimized compounds.
• Expertise in modern synthetic organic chemistry techniques and analytical characterization (NMR, MS, HPLC).
• Proficiency with relevant cheminformatics and molecular modeling software.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills for effective work in a fully remote environment, with a commitment to working within the Newcastle upon Tyne time zone context if needed for team alignment.
