Lead Petroleum Geologist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Lead Petroleum Geologist to drive exploration and development initiatives from a remote setting. In this critical role, you will be responsible for identifying and evaluating new exploration prospects, contributing to the geological understanding of existing fields, and guiding subsurface data acquisition and analysis. You will collaborate closely with reservoir engineers, geophysicists, and management teams, providing essential geological insights to support strategic decision-making within the Oil & Gas sector. This position offers the unique opportunity to leverage your expertise in a fully remote capacity, influencing project success and company growth without the need for physical office presence.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the geological evaluation of exploration acreage, identifying and ranking potential hydrocarbon plays and prospects.
• Integrate diverse geological datasets, including seismic, well logs, core data, and production information, to build comprehensive subsurface models.
• Develop and manage detailed geological models for existing fields to support optimization and infill drilling campaigns.
• Design and oversee geological data acquisition programs, including seismic surveys and well logging operations.
• Provide expert geological advice and support to multidisciplinary teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Stay abreast of new technologies and methodologies in petroleum geology and implement them where appropriate.

Requirements

• Master's degree or PhD in Geology, Geophysics, or a related Earth Science discipline.
• Over 10 years of progressive experience in petroleum exploration and development geology .
• Expertise in seismic interpretation, well log analysis, and petroleum systems analysis.
• Proficiency with industry-standard geological software packages (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom).
• Demonstrated success in discovering or developing hydrocarbon resources.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly.
