About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Petroleum Geologist to join their expanding exploration team in Birmingham, West Midlands, UK . This role is crucial for identifying and evaluating prospective oil and gas assets. You will be responsible for integrating geological data, interpreting seismic surveys, and contributing to the geological models that underpin exploration strategies. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you'll play a key part in the success of our client's exploration ventures, leveraging your expertise to uncover valuable resources and drive future growth, all within a supportive and progressive work environment situated in a major industrial city with excellent transport links.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret and analyze seismic data, well logs, and core samples to identify hydrocarbon potential.
- Develop and refine 3D geological models and maps for exploration and appraisal targets.
- Collaborate with reservoir engineers and geophysicists to assess prospectivity and risk.
- Conduct basin analysis and regional geological studies to inform exploration strategies.
- Prepare detailed geological reports and presentations for internal reviews and external partners.
- Contribute to the planning and execution of geological fieldwork and data acquisition programs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geophysics, or a related earth science discipline.
- A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in oil and gas exploration geology.
- Proficiency in geological software such as Petrel, Kingdom Suite, or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of structural geology, stratigraphy, and sedimentology.
- Experience with seismic interpretation and well data integration.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
