About the Role

Our client is seeking an innovative and experienced Lead Pharmaceutical Research Scientist to spearhead cutting-edge research initiatives in Newcastle upon Tyne . This senior role involves guiding a team of scientists in the discovery and development of novel therapeutics, from early-stage research through to pre-clinical candidate selection. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of research scientists focused on drug discovery projects.
• Design and execute complex experiments to investigate novel biological targets and therapeutic modalities.
• Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and present findings at internal and external forums.
• Contribute to the strategic direction of the R&D pipeline and identify new research opportunities.
• Ensure adherence to stringent laboratory safety standards and good laboratory practice (GLP) .
• Mentor junior scientists and foster a culture of scientific rigor and innovation.

Requirements

• PhD in Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related life science discipline.
• Demonstrated experience (5+ years) in pharmaceutical R&D, with a strong track record in drug discovery.
• Proven leadership and team management experience.
• Expertise in relevant therapeutic areas and modern drug discovery technologies.
• Strong skills in experimental design, data analysis, and scientific writing.
• Experience with in vivo and in vitro assay development and validation.
