Lead Process Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Lead Process Engineer to join their established team in Norwich . This crucial role involves leading the process engineering design and development for projects within the oil and gas sector, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and efficiency of processing facilities. You will be responsible for process simulations, P&ID development, equipment specification, and ensuring compliance with all relevant industry standards and environmental regulations. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development of process design packages, including PFDs, P&IDs, and mass/energy balances.
• Perform process simulations and calculations using industry-standard software (e.g., HYSYS, Aspen Plus).
• Specify process equipment such as pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, and distillation columns.
• Conduct process hazard analyses (PHAs) and ensure safety considerations are integrated into designs.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior process engineers and designers.
• Liaise with clients, project managers, and other engineering disciplines to ensure successful project execution.

Requirements

• A Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 9 years of experience in process engineering , with a significant focus on the oil and gas industry .
• Proficiency in process simulation software and P&ID development tools.
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and separation processes.
• Experience with safety regulations and environmental compliance in process design.
• Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
