Lead Process Safety Engineer - Remote

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Lead Process Safety Engineer to spearhead their safety initiatives. This critical role operates on a fully remote basis, allowing you to leverage your expertise across various projects without geographical constraints. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive process safety management systems to ensure the highest standards of safety are met across all operations. This is a senior position requiring strong leadership, in-depth technical knowledge, and a proactive approach to risk mitigation in a remote working context.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement robust Process Safety Management (PSM) programs in accordance with industry standards and regulations.
• Lead and facilitate Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and What-If studies.
• Conduct safety audits and inspections, identifying potential hazards and recommending corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver process safety training to relevant personnel across the organization.
• Investigate incidents and near misses, determining root causes and implementing preventive measures.
• Stay abreast of evolving safety regulations, industry best practices, and emerging technologies in process safety.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
• Extensive experience (10+ years) in process safety engineering, with a focus on PSM.
• In-depth knowledge of PHA methodologies and risk assessment techniques.
• Experience with safety instrumented systems (SIS) and functional safety standards.
• Strong leadership, communication, and influencing skills, essential for remote collaboration .
• Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CSP, CIChE) are highly desirable.
