About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Process Safety Engineer to join their expanding operations in Coventry . This senior position is pivotal in ensuring the highest standards of process safety across all engineering and operational activities within the energy sector. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing robust safety management systems, conducting rigorous risk assessments, and promoting a strong safety culture. The role requires a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating potential hazards, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and industry best practices, and contributing to a safe working environment for all personnel involved in energy infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive process safety management systems (PSM) in line with industry standards and regulations.
- Lead and conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and FMEA studies.
- Oversee incident investigations, root cause analysis (RCA), and ensure effective implementation of corrective actions.
- Develop and deliver process safety training programs to engineers, operators, and management.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance on inherently safer design principles during project phases.
- Audit and assess the effectiveness of safety procedures and compliance across various sites and projects.
- Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Proven track record of at least 8 years in process safety engineering within the energy industry .
- In-depth knowledge of international process safety standards (e.g., OSHA PSM, Seveso Directive).
- Experience with quantitative risk assessment (QRA) and safety integrity level (SIL) determination.
- Strong leadership, communication, and influencing skills.
