Lead Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Lead Process Safety Engineer to oversee and enhance safety protocols within their operations in Coventry . This critical role involves ensuring compliance with stringent safety regulations and implementing best practices in process hazard analysis and risk management. You will lead a team of safety professionals, driving a culture of safety excellence across all engineering and operational activities. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and execute Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) such as HAZOP, LOPA, and FMEA for new and existing processes.
• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive process safety management (PSM) systems and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements for process safety .
• Provide expert guidance and mentorship to engineering and operations teams on all aspects of process safety.
• Investigate safety incidents, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in process safety engineering within the oil and gas or chemical industries.
• In-depth knowledge of process safety standards (e.g., OSHA PSM, EPA RMP, COMAH).
• Proven ability to lead PHA studies and manage complex safety projects.
• Strong leadership, communication, and influencing skills.
