Lead Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Process Safety Engineer to join their established team in Coventry . This critical role will focus on ensuring the highest standards of process safety across all operations, safeguarding personnel, assets, and the environment. You will lead safety initiatives, conduct rigorous risk assessments, and develop robust safety management systems. This hybrid role offers a blend of on-site collaboration and remote flexibility, allowing you to contribute significantly to a culture where safety is paramount and operational integrity is actively maintained through diligent engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive process safety management systems (PSM).
• Lead and execute Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and FMEA studies.
• Conduct incident investigations and root cause analyses (RCAs), developing and implementing corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with relevant safety regulations and industry best practices.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance on process safety matters to project teams and operational staff.
• Mentor and develop junior process safety engineers, promoting a strong safety culture throughout the organization.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in process safety engineering within the energy or chemical industry.
• In-depth knowledge of HAZOP, LOPA , and other risk assessment methodologies.
• Experience with developing and implementing Safety Integrity Level (SIL) assessments.
• Strong understanding of regulatory requirements such as COMAH.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
