Lead Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Process Safety Engineer to join their expanding operations in Coventry . In this critical role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing robust process safety management systems across diverse industrial facilities. You will champion a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and industry best practices to mitigate risks associated with hazardous operations. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive Process Safety Management (PSM) programs, including HAZOP, LOPA, and SIL assessments.
• Lead and facilitate process hazard analyses for new projects and existing facilities.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant national and international safety regulations and standards.
• Develop and deliver process safety training to operational and engineering staff.
• Investigate process safety incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Manage and maintain process safety documentation and records, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in process safety engineering, preferably within the chemical, petrochemical, or oil and gas sectors.
• In-depth knowledge of HAZOP , HAZID, SIL, and other relevant process safety methodologies.
• Experience with safety instrumented systems (SIS) and risk assessment techniques.
• Strong understanding of relevant safety legislation and industry standards (e.g., Seveso Directive, COMAH).
• Excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
