Lead Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Process Safety Engineer to spearhead safety initiatives within their Oil & Gas operations . This is a fully remote position, offering the unique opportunity to contribute from anywhere while playing a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of safety across all projects and facilities. You will lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of process safety management systems, hazard identification, risk assessment, and mitigation strategies. Your expertise will be crucial in safeguarding personnel, assets, and the environment, fostering a robust safety culture that permeates throughout the organization, regardless of geographical location.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive process safety management (PSM) programs in accordance with industry best practices and regulations.
• Lead and facilitate Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) studies, Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), and Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA).
• Conduct incident investigations, root cause analyses, and develop corrective action plans to prevent recurrence.
• Oversee the development and maintenance of safety-critical equipment and procedures.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to process safety engineers and project teams remotely.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and company policies, driving a zero-incident philosophy.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Extensive experience (10+ years) in process safety engineering within the Oil & Gas industry .
• In-depth knowledge of PSM elements, including PHA, Management of Change (MOC), and Mechanical Integrity.
• Proven ability to lead safety studies and drive risk reduction initiatives effectively.
• Excellent understanding of relevant international safety standards and regulations.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills , particularly in a remote setting.
