Lead Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Lead Process Safety Engineer to join their established operations in Coventry . This critical role will ensure the highest standards of process safety are maintained across all facilities, playing a key part in risk assessment, hazard analysis, and the implementation of safety management systems. You will lead a team of safety professionals, driving a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance with all relevant UK and international regulations. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain the company's process safety management (PSM) system.
• Lead and participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and FMEA studies.
• Oversee incident investigations, root cause analysis, and the implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, such as COMAH and HSE guidelines.
• Develop and deliver process safety training programs for site personnel and management.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior process safety engineers and operational staff.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in process safety engineering within the energy or chemical industry.
• In-depth knowledge of process safety standards, methodologies (HAZOP, LOPA), and regulatory frameworks.
• Proven experience in leading safety studies and managing PSM programs.
• Strong leadership, communication, and influencing skills.
• Chartered Engineer status (e.g., IChemE) is highly desirable.
