About the Role
Our client is seeking a proactive Lead Production Chemist to manage and optimize production chemistry for their operations near Portsmouth . This role is critical for ensuring efficient and safe production by addressing challenges related to water chemistry, corrosion, scale, and hydrate formation. You will lead a team of chemists and technicians, develop strategic chemical treatment programs, and provide expert technical support to production operations. Working in a hybrid capacity, you will balance laboratory analysis with on-site operational involvement, driving chemical performance improvements and contributing to asset integrity and profitability within the Oil & Gas sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement chemical injection strategies to manage production chemistry challenges such as corrosion, scale, and hydrates.
- Analyze production fluid samples to monitor chemical performance and identify potential issues.
- Lead and mentor a team of chemists and technicians, ensuring high standards of laboratory practice and data integrity.
- Conduct field visits to production facilities to assess operational needs and troubleshoot chemical-related problems.
- Evaluate and recommend new chemical technologies and suppliers.
- Prepare technical reports, performance reviews, and budgetary forecasts for production chemistry programs.
Requirements
- Master's or PhD degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in production chemistry within the Oil & Gas industry.
- Strong understanding of scale, corrosion, hydrate, and emulsion chemistries relevant to hydrocarbon production.
- Experience with laboratory analysis techniques and interpretation of results.
- Proven leadership and project management skills.
