Lead Research Chemist - Organic Synthesis

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented and experienced Lead Research Chemist to drive innovation in organic synthesis for their R&D department in Bradford . This role requires a deep understanding of synthetic methodologies and a proven track record of successfully delivering complex chemical targets. You will lead a team of chemists, mentor junior colleagues, and contribute significantly to the discovery and development of novel chemical entities. Key Responsibilities

• Design and execute multi-step organic synthesis routes for novel compounds and intermediates.
• Lead and mentor a team of synthetic chemists, providing scientific direction and technical expertise.
• Optimize reaction conditions to improve yield, purity, and scalability of synthetic processes.
• Develop and implement robust analytical methods for characterization of synthesized compounds.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to advance projects from discovery through development phases.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or a related field with a strong emphasis on synthetic chemistry.
• Minimum of 6 years of post-doctoral or industrial experience in organic synthesis .
• Demonstrated expertise in a wide range of modern synthetic organic chemistry reactions and techniques.
• Experience in leading research projects and mentoring junior chemists.
• Proficiency in spectroscopic techniques (NMR, MS, IR) for compound characterization and an understanding of chromatographic purification methods.
