About the Role
Our client is looking for an experienced Lead Scientist in Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) to join their dynamic research and development team in Sunderland . This leadership role is crucial for guiding the strategic direction and execution of DMPK studies throughout the drug discovery and development pipeline. You will leverage your extensive expertise to characterize drug candidates' absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion properties, ensuring they meet the necessary criteria for progression. This position requires a blend of scientific acumen, project management skills, and the ability to foster collaboration across diverse scientific disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage DMPK activities for multiple drug discovery projects, from early discovery through to preclinical development.
- Design and oversee in vitro and in vivo studies to assess drug ADME properties and potential drug-drug interactions.
- Analyze and interpret complex pharmacokinetic and metabolic data, providing critical insights and recommendations.
- Contribute to the preparation of regulatory documents and scientific publications.
- Mentor and develop junior scientists within the DMPK team, fostering a culture of scientific excellence and innovation.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Pharmacology, Toxicology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related discipline.
- Significant experience (7+ years) in DMPK research, preferably within the pharmaceutical industry.
- Demonstrated expertise in designing, executing, and interpreting DMPK studies.
- Strong knowledge of bioanalytical methods and pharmacokinetic modeling software.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills, essential for work in Sunderland .
