About the Role
Our client is seeking an accomplished Lead Software Engineer to spearhead backend systems development in their dynamic technology hub located in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear . Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of high-performance, scalable backend services and APIs.
- Mentor and guide a team of software engineers, fostering technical growth and best practices.
- Collaborate with product management and stakeholders to define technical roadmaps and requirements.
- Ensure the quality and reliability of backend systems through rigorous testing, code reviews, and performance monitoring.
- Drive architectural decisions and promote modern software engineering principles across the team.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide effective solutions in a timely manner.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of professional software development experience, with a strong focus on backend technologies.
- Proven experience leading engineering teams and mentoring junior developers.
- Expertise in one or more backend languages (e.g., Java, Python, C#, Go) and associated frameworks.
- Deep understanding of database technologies (SQL, NoSQL), distributed systems, and microservices architecture.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
