About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished Lead Software Engineer to spearhead backend systems development in their dynamic technology hub located in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear . Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and maintenance of high-performance, scalable backend services and APIs.
• Mentor and guide a team of software engineers, fostering technical growth and best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of professional software development experience, with a strong focus on backend technologies.
• Proven experience leading engineering teams and mentoring junior developers.
• Expertise in one or more backend languages (e.g., Java, Python, C#, Go) and associated frameworks.
• Deep understanding of database technologies (SQL, NoSQL), distributed systems, and microservices architecture.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
