About the Role
Our client is actively seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer specializing in backend development to join their innovative team based in Sunderland . This position offers the opportunity to architect, build, and maintain scalable, high-performance server-side applications that are critical to our client's success. You will work in a collaborative environment, contributing to the entire software development lifecycle, from initial design to deployment and ongoing support. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of backend systems, a passion for writing clean, efficient code, and a proactive approach to problem-solving, driving significant technical advancements and mentoring junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement robust backend services and APIs using languages like Java or C# .
- Optimize application performance, database interactions, and system scalability.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code, adhering to coding standards and best practices.
- Collaborate with frontend developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to deliver features that meet business requirements.
- Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to peers and contributing to a culture of quality.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in production and development environments.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software development experience with a focus on backend systems.
- Strong proficiency in at least one modern backend programming language (e.g., Java , C# , Python, Go).
- In-depth knowledge of relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and experience with ORM frameworks.
- Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs .
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and containerization (Docker) is a strong advantage.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
