Lead Solar Project Developer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Lead Solar Project Developer to spearhead their renewable energy projects across the UK, operating on a fully remote basis. This leadership role involves identifying and securing new solar farm development opportunities, managing the entire project lifecycle from conception through to financial close. You will be responsible for site acquisition, grid connection feasibility, permitting, and stakeholder engagement. The ideal candidate possesses a proven track record in solar project development and a deep understanding of the UK's renewable energy market. This is a crucial position to drive the expansion of clean energy, working autonomously and collaboratively with remote teams to deliver impactful solar infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify, assess, and secure sites for utility-scale and commercial solar PV projects.
• Manage the full project development lifecycle , including planning, permitting, and grid connection applications.
• Conduct feasibility studies, including site assessments, resource analysis, and economic viability .
• Negotiate land leases, power purchase agreements (PPAs), and other key project contracts.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with landowners, local authorities, grid operators, and investors.
• Oversee project risk management and ensure timely delivery of development milestones.

Requirements

• Minimum of 7 years of experience in renewable energy project development, with a strong focus on solar PV.
• Demonstrated success in bringing solar projects from origination to financial close .
• In-depth knowledge of the UK planning system, grid connection processes, and renewable energy policies.
• Excellent commercial acumen, negotiation, and contract management skills.
• Strong network within the UK renewable energy industry.
