About the Role
Our client is actively searching for an experienced and forward-thinking Lead Technical Artist to join their fully remote development team. In this pivotal role, you will drive the technical art direction, establish best practices, and lead a team of technical artists to ensure the seamless integration of high-quality art assets into their flagship titles. You will work at the intersection of art and programming, solving complex technical challenges and developing innovative tools and workflows that enhance artistic output and performance. This is a unique opportunity to shape the technical foundation of visually stunning games and mentor a talented group of professionals, all from a remote setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of technical artists , providing technical guidance and fostering professional growth.
- Define and maintain the technical art pipeline, ensuring efficient workflows for asset creation and integration.
- Develop and implement custom tools, scripts, and plugins to automate tasks and enhance artist productivity.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to optimize engine performance and implement new art-related features.
- Champion best practices for asset optimization, memory management, and shader development across the art department.
Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years in a Technical Artist role, with at least 3 years in a leadership position.
- Expert proficiency in scripting languages (Python, MEL, C#) and game engine technical art systems (Unreal Engine, Unity).
- Strong knowledge of 3D modeling, texturing, rigging, and animation principles.
- Experience with shader development, performance profiling, and optimization techniques.
- Exceptional communication and leadership skills , with a proven ability to solve complex technical problems.
