About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Lead Telecoms Field Technician to oversee field operations in and around Newcastle upon Tyne . This critical role involves leading a team of technicians in the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications infrastructure, ensuring adherence to quality standards and safety protocols. You will be responsible for managing schedules, troubleshooting challenging technical issues on-site, and liaising with customers to ensure their satisfaction. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in telecommunications, excellent leadership skills, and a dedication to delivering exceptional service in a field-based capacity, contributing to the reliable operation of essential communication services for our community.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of field technicians, providing guidance, training, and performance oversight for all on-site activities.
- Perform complex installations, repairs, and upgrades of telecommunications equipment, including fiber optics, routers, and switches, at customer premises and network sites.
- Diagnose and resolve network connectivity issues, hardware failures, and service disruptions promptly and effectively.
- Ensure all field operations comply with company safety policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, equipment used, and site conditions, utilizing company reporting systems.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Telecoms Field Technician, with at least 5 years in a senior or lead role.
- Strong understanding of fiber optic technologies, copper cabling, and associated installation techniques.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and troubleshooting network hardware and software issues related to telecommunications systems.
- Experience with relevant test equipment and diagnostic tools.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and customer service skills, with the ability to work effectively under pressure.
