About the Role
Our client is searching for an exceptional Lead VFX Artist to spearhead the visual effects department at their studio in Birmingham . This role is critical in defining and executing the visual style for upcoming projects, ensuring that all special effects are not only technically sound but also artistically compelling. You will lead a team of talented VFX artists, foster a collaborative atmosphere, and work closely with art directors and technical directors to push the boundaries of visual fidelity. Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of VFX artists , managing workload and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality visual effects.
- Develop and implement cutting-edge VFX techniques and shaders for real-time rendering environments.
- Create visually stunning particle effects, simulations, and environmental effects that enhance gameplay immersion.
- Collaborate with art directors to establish and maintain the visual targets for all in-game effects.
- Optimize VFX performance to meet target frame rates and hardware constraints across various platforms.
- Conduct regular reviews and provide constructive feedback to the VFX team to ensure artistic consistency and technical excellence.
Requirements
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in VFX artistry for games or real-time applications, with at least 2 years in a leadership or senior role.
- Expert proficiency with industry-standard 3D software (e.g., Maya, 3ds Max) and game engines (e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity).
- Deep understanding of particle systems, fluid dynamics, material creation, and shader programming .
- A strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional visual effects work and artistic direction.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate a team, manage project timelines, and communicate effectively with cross-functional departments.
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, HLSL) is a plus.
