About the Role

Our client is seeking a visionary Lead VFX Artist to spearhead their visual effects efforts in Manchester . This leadership position requires a deep understanding of real-time visual effects and the ability to guide a team to create breathtaking, performance-optimized effects for cutting-edge projects. You will be responsible for establishing the visual direction of VFX, ensuring artistic consistency and technical excellence across the team. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of VFX artists, providing creative and technical direction.
• Design, implement, and optimize real-time visual effects (explosions, magic, environmental effects) for games.
• Develop and maintain VFX style guides and technical pipelines.
• Collaborate with other departments (art, engineering, design) to ensure seamless integration of VFX.
• Create high-quality particle systems, shaders, and post-processing effects.
• Stay current with industry trends and explore new technologies to enhance visual fidelity and performance.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in VFX art for games, with at least 2 years in a lead or senior role.
• Proficiency with particle editing software (e.g., Niagara, Houdini, Unity VFX Graph).
• Strong understanding of shader creation and optimization for real-time rendering.
• Experience with 3D software (e.g., Maya, Blender) and game engines (e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity).
• Exceptional artistic eye and a strong portfolio showcasing diverse VFX work.
