About the Role
Our client is looking for a caring and patient Learning Disabilities Support Worker to join their team in Edinburgh . This role is dedicated to empowering individuals with learning disabilities to lead more independent, inclusive, and meaningful lives within their community. You will provide tailored support, assisting with daily living activities, personal care, and encouraging participation in social, educational, and recreational pursuits. Working within a person-centred framework, you will promote choice, dignity, and respect for each individual, fostering their development and well-being in a supportive and professional environment in the heart of Edinburgh .
Key Responsibilities
- Support individuals with daily living tasks, including personal care, meal preparation, and household management.
- Assist service users in accessing community resources, educational opportunities, and employment.
- Promote and facilitate social inclusion, encouraging participation in local activities and events.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with individuals, their families, and support networks.
- Implement and contribute to the development of individual support plans.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of support provided and observed progress.
Requirements
- Previous experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities is highly advantageous.
- Excellent communication and listening skills, with a patient and empathetic nature.
- A proactive approach to supporting independence and personal choice.
- Understanding of safeguarding principles and person-centred planning.
- Willingness to undertake relevant training and complete a satisfactory Disclosure Scotland check.
