Learning Disability Support Worker

About the Role

Our client is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Learning Disability Support Worker to join their specialised care team in Stoke-on-Trent . This rewarding role involves providing person-centred support to individuals with learning disabilities, empowering them to live independent, meaningful lives within their community. You will assist with daily living tasks, promote social inclusion, and support individuals in pursuing their interests and goals. Working within a supportive environment, you will be crucial in fostering a sense of dignity, choice, and control for the people you support.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide practical and emotional support to individuals with learning disabilities , respecting their dignity and promoting independence.
• Assist with personal care, including bathing, dressing, and continence management, as per individual care plans.
• Support clients in engaging in community activities, hobbies, and social events.
• Help with meal preparation, household chores, and maintaining a clean and safe living environment.
• Administer medication as prescribed, following strict protocols and reporting any concerns.
• Maintain accurate and detailed daily records of activities, observations, and any incidents.

Requirements

• Previous experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities or other complex needs is advantageous but not essential.
• A caring, patient, and empathetic nature with a genuine desire to make a difference.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and care plans precisely.
• Willingness to undertake training and develop new skills.
• Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and evenings, as required.
