About the Role
Our client, a prominent player in the insurance industry, is seeking a dedicated Legal Counsel to join their growing legal team in Liverpool , offering a flexible hybrid working arrangement. This role is critical in providing comprehensive legal support across various insurance lines, including claims, policy wording, regulatory compliance, and commercial contracts. You will collaborate closely with underwriting, claims, and compliance departments, offering pragmatic legal advice to manage risk and ensure adherence to regulatory frameworks. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of insurance law and a proactive approach to problem-solving, contributing to the company's continued success and integrity in a challenging market.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert legal advice on insurance claims, policy interpretation, and coverage disputes.
- Draft, review, and negotiate policy wordings and commercial agreements.
- Ensure compliance with insurance regulations, including Solvency II and FCA requirements.
- Assist with the legal aspects of product development and innovation in the insurance sector.
- Manage external legal advisors and support litigation strategy where necessary.
- Advise on corporate governance and regulatory reporting matters.
Requirements
- Qualified solicitor or barrister with a minimum of 5 years' post-qualification experience.
- Significant experience in insurance law, either in private practice or in-house.
- Strong understanding of insurance products, claims handling, and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent analytical, drafting, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple complex legal issues simultaneously.
- Proficiency in remote working tools and a willingness to travel occasionally to the Liverpool office.
