About the Role
Our client is seeking a specialized Legal Counsel with a focus on Intellectual Property to join their innovative team in Cambridge . This role is vital for protecting and managing the company's valuable IP portfolio, including patents, trademarks, and copyrights. You will provide expert legal advice on IP strategy, licensing, enforcement, and risk management, working closely with R&D, marketing, and business development teams. This is an exciting opportunity for an IP lawyer to contribute to cutting-edge developments within a globally recognized hub of innovation, based in our Cambridge office.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and protect the company's patent, trademark, and copyright portfolios.
- Draft, review, and negotiate IP-related agreements, including licenses, assignments, and joint development agreements.
- Provide legal advice on IP strategy, freedom-to-operate, and competitive intelligence.
- Advise on IP aspects of commercial transactions, M&A, and collaborations.
- Conduct IP due diligence and manage IP litigation or disputes.
- Stay abreast of IP laws and trends globally and advise on their impact.
Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor or Barrister with significant experience in intellectual property law.
- Proven experience in patent prosecution, trademark registration, and copyright management.
- Strong understanding of IP licensing, enforcement, and litigation strategies.
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to provide clear, practical advice.
- Experience working with technology or life sciences companies is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with technical teams and senior management.
