Legal Counsel - Intellectual Property

About the Role

Our client is actively seeking an experienced Legal Counsel specializing in Intellectual Property (IP) to join their fully remote legal team, supporting operations originating from Sheffield, South Yorkshire, UK . This role is vital for safeguarding the company's intellectual assets, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. You will advise on IP strategy, manage IP portfolios, and handle IP-related transactions and disputes. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategies for the protection, management, and enforcement of the company's IP assets.
• Conduct IP due diligence for new products, services, and potential acquisitions.
• Draft, review, and negotiate IP-related agreements, such as licensing, R&D, and collaboration agreements.
• Advise on trademark clearance and registration, patentability, and copyright issues.
• Manage and resolve IP disputes, including infringement claims and opposition proceedings.
• Provide legal counsel on the commercialisation of IP and technology transfer.

Requirements

• Qualified solicitor or barrister with a strong background in Intellectual Property Law .
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in IP law, encompassing patents, trademarks, and copyrights.
• Proven experience in IP portfolio management, IP transactions, and IP litigation or dispute resolution.
• Excellent understanding of IP law in the UK and relevant international frameworks.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with commercial acumen.
• Ability to work effectively independently and collaboratively in a remote setting.
