Legal Counsel - Technology & IP

About the Role

Our client, a rapidly expanding technology company, is seeking a dynamic Legal Counsel with expertise in Technology and Intellectual Property to join their fully remote legal team. This critical role will involve advising on a broad range of legal matters related to software development, data privacy, licensing, and IP protection. You will work closely with product, engineering, and business development teams to support innovation and growth, ensuring legal compliance and mitigating risk in a fast-paced digital environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically adept lawyer to play a key role in shaping the legal strategy of a cutting-edge organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate technology-related agreements, including software licenses, SaaS agreements, and NDAs.
• Advise on intellectual property matters, including patent, trademark, and copyright protection and enforcement.
• Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations such as GDPR and CCPA.
• Support M&A activities by conducting due diligence on IP and technology assets.
• Provide legal guidance on emerging technologies and digital business models.
• Manage external counsel and liaise with relevant authorities on IP and technology issues.

Requirements

• Qualified solicitor with a minimum of 5 years' experience in technology law and IP.
• Strong understanding of software licensing, data protection, and commercial contracts.
• Proven experience in IP portfolio management and enforcement strategies.
• Excellent negotiation and drafting skills with a strong technical aptitude.
• Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple projects effectively in a remote setting.
• Experience in a fast-paced tech or SaaS environment is highly desirable.
