Lighting Technician - Theatre

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and dedicated Lighting Technician to join their prestigious theatre company in Bristol . You will be responsible for the installation, operation, and maintenance of all lighting equipment for stage productions, ensuring that the lighting design effectively supports the artistic vision and technical requirements of each show. This hands-on role requires a meticulous approach, a strong understanding of stage lighting technology, and the ability to work efficiently within a dynamic production schedule. You will collaborate closely with lighting designers, stage managers, and technical crews to deliver visually stunning performances.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and strike stage lighting equipment for various theatrical productions.
• Perform routine maintenance and repair of lighting fixtures, consoles, and related equipment.
• Work from lighting designs and cue sheets to execute lighting changes during performances.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical lighting issues quickly and efficiently during rehearsals and shows.
• Assist with the installation and programming of new lighting systems and technologies.
• Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations related to stage lighting.

Requirements

• Proven experience (3+ years) as a Lighting Technician or similar technical role in a theatre or live events setting.
• Strong knowledge of stage lighting equipment, including moving lights, LEDs, conventional fixtures, and control consoles (e.g., ETC, GrandMA).
• Familiarity with rigging techniques and electrical safety procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret lighting plots and cue sheets.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
• Physical fitness and willingness to perform manual labor as required for setup and strike.
