About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and practical Livestock Farm Supervisor to manage the daily operations of their cattle and sheep farm in the picturesque region of Sunderland, Tyne and Wear . This role is hands-on, requiring a proactive approach to animal husbandry, herd health, and efficient farm management. You will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of welfare and productivity, leading a small team, and contributing to the overall success of the farm's breeding and finishing programs. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic and a genuine passion for livestock farming .

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily feeding, watering, and general care of cattle and sheep, ensuring adherence to welfare standards.
• Monitor animal health, administer basic treatments, and liaise with veterinary professionals when necessary.
• Manage grazing rotations and maintain pastures to optimize forage quality and quantity.
• Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment, including tractors, ATVs, and relevant livestock handling systems.
• Supervise and guide farmhands, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
• Maintain accurate records of animal movements, treatments, breeding, and production data.

Requirements

• Proven experience in livestock farming , preferably with cattle and sheep.
• Practical skills in animal husbandry, including handling, feeding, and health monitoring.
• Ability to operate and maintain farm machinery safely and competently.
• Good understanding of pasture management and rotational grazing techniques.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for record-keeping.
• A valid UK driving license and willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
