About the Role

Our client is seeking a capable and experienced Livestock Farm Supervisor to join their team in Newcastle upon Tyne . This role is crucial for the day-to-day management and operational efficiency of their livestock operations. You will be responsible for ensuring the health, welfare, and productivity of the animals, while also supervising a team of farmhands. The successful candidate will be passionate about animal husbandry, possess strong leadership qualities, and be committed to maintaining high standards of animal care and farm management. This is an on-site role vital to the continuous operation of the farm.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily care and feeding of livestock, ensuring adherence to established feeding schedules and nutritional requirements.
• Monitor animal health closely, identifying any signs of illness or distress and implementing appropriate treatment or isolation protocols.
• Supervise, train, and mentor farmhands, delegating tasks and ensuring all work is performed to a high standard.
• Manage the upkeep and cleanliness of animal housing, facilities, and equipment, maintaining a hygienic and safe environment.
• Implement and enforce biosecurity measures to prevent the introduction and spread of diseases.
• Maintain accurate records related to animal health, breeding, feed consumption, and production.

Requirements

• Demonstrable experience in livestock management , preferably with cattle or sheep.
• Proven ability to supervise and motivate a team of farm workers.
• Solid understanding of animal welfare regulations and best practices in animal husbandry.
• Experience with record-keeping and basic farm administration.
• Physical fitness and willingness to perform demanding manual labor as needed.
• Good communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
