Livestock Farm Supervisor

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Livestock Farm Supervisor to manage their extensive cattle and sheep operations near Coventry, West Midlands . This role is critical for maintaining the health and welfare of the livestock, ensuring optimal breeding programs, and overseeing daily farm activities. You will be a key member of the farm management team, responsible for the productivity and profitability of the livestock division. The successful candidate will be passionate about animal husbandry, possess strong leadership capabilities, and be committed to implementing the highest standards of animal welfare and farm management in the Coventry area.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily care, feeding, and health management of a large herd of cattle and flock of sheep.
• Implement and monitor breeding programs to improve herd/flock genetics and productivity.
• Supervise and coordinate the work of farmhands involved in livestock operations, providing guidance and training.
• Maintain farm infrastructure, including fencing, barns, and water systems, ensuring they are in good repair and safe for livestock.
• Monitor livestock health, identify any signs of illness or distress, and implement appropriate veterinary care and treatments.
• Keep accurate records of livestock numbers, breeding, health treatments, and feeding regimes for the West Midlands farm.

  Requirements
• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in supervising or managing livestock operations .
• Strong knowledge of animal husbandry, nutrition, and common livestock diseases.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team effectively.
• Experience with farm machinery and equipment relevant to livestock management.
• Excellent record-keeping and organizational skills.
• A passion for animal welfare and a commitment to best practices in animal agriculture .
• Flexibility to work weekends and occasional evenings as required in Coventry .
