About the Role

Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Livestock Manager to oversee their operations in Edinburgh . This role is crucial for ensuring the health, welfare, and productivity of all livestock on the farm. You will be responsible for managing daily care routines, implementing breeding programs, maintaining records, and leading a team of farmhands. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of animal husbandry, a strong understanding of animal welfare standards, and proven leadership abilities to manage a thriving agricultural enterprise.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day care and welfare of all livestock, including feeding, watering, and health monitoring.
• Implement and oversee breeding programs to optimize herd or flock productivity and genetic quality.
• Administer treatments and medications as prescribed by veterinarians, and maintain accurate health records.
• Supervise and train farm staff involved in livestock handling and care.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant animal welfare legislation and industry best practices.
• Monitor pasture conditions and manage grazing rotations to ensure optimal feed availability.

Requirements

• Significant experience in livestock management, with a focus on (Specify Livestock Type, e.g., cattle, sheep, pigs).
• A strong understanding of animal nutrition, health, and reproductive cycles.
