About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Livestock Specialist to join their esteemed agricultural operations near Glasgow . This role is vital for ensuring the health, welfare, and productivity of their livestock herds, encompassing cattle, sheep, and potentially other farm animals. You will be responsible for implementing best practices in animal husbandry, monitoring herd health, managing breeding programs, and optimizing feed strategies. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in animal science and practical farm experience, coupled with a genuine passion for animal welfare and agricultural excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily care and management of all livestock, including feeding, watering, and health monitoring.
• Implement and manage effective breeding programs to optimize herd performance and genetic quality.
• Monitor animal health, administer medications as prescribed, and work with veterinarians to address any health concerns.
• Develop and implement optimal nutrition plans tailored to the specific needs of different livestock groups.
• Maintain accurate records of births, deaths, treatments, vaccinations, and breeding cycles.
• Ensure compliance with all animal welfare regulations and industry best practices.

Requirements

• Degree in Animal Science, Agriculture, Veterinary Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in livestock management or a similar role.
• Strong understanding of animal physiology, nutrition, and reproductive cycles.
• Hands-on experience with handling and treating various types of livestock.
• Excellent record-keeping abilities and familiarity with farm management software.
