Logistics Coordinator

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and highly organised Logistics Coordinator to join their supply chain team based in Newcastle upon Tyne . This role is pivotal in coordinating the movement of goods, ensuring timely deliveries, and managing relationships with carriers and suppliers. You will be responsible for the smooth execution of logistics operations, contributing to the overall efficiency of the company's distribution network. The successful candidate will be adept at problem-solving and thrive in a dynamic environment, requiring excellent communication skills and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and schedule shipments, ensuring all deliveries are made on time and within budget.
• Track shipments and provide real-time updates to internal stakeholders and customers.
• Liaise with shipping lines, freight forwarders, and transportation providers to negotiate rates and manage bookings.
• Prepare and manage all necessary shipping documentation, including customs forms and import/export declarations.
• Resolve any logistical issues or disruptions that may arise, proactively finding solutions to minimize delays.
• Maintain accurate records of all logistics activities and update the company's tracking systems.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a logistics, supply chain, or shipping coordination role.
• Familiarity with transportation regulations and international shipping procedures.
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building rapport with carriers and internal teams.
• Proficiency in logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to delivering excellent service.
