Our client is a successful business in the environmental services sector, and they are looking for a Logistics Director to lead all of their logistics and transport operations.
This is a senior leadership role with full P&L responsibility for the logistics function. It covers the whole supply chain, from freight procurement and fleet management to warehousing and final delivery. It suits someone who knows truck operations inside out and wants to shape the strategy, not just run the day-to-day operation.
The role

Ensure full compliance with drivers’ hours, tachograph rules, roadworthiness and O Licence requirements
Improve fleet utilisation, fuel use, routing, load planning and carbon performance
Oversee inbound freight, warehousing and outbound distribution
Negotiate and manage contracts with 3PLs and hauliers
Lead and develop a multi-site logistics team, working closely with Sales, Procurement, Finance and Customer Service
Lead the move towards a lower-emission fleet and the carbon reduction plans
Report KPIs and performance to the executive team and manage the departmental budget
What you will bring
At least 5 years in a senior leadership role running truck and fleet operations
In-depth knowledge of HGV/LGV operations and road transport regulations
Experience with TMS and WMS systems, and confident decision making based on data
A track record of delivering cost savings and better service at scale
Experience leading multi-site operations and large cross-functional teams
Budget or P&L ownership
Experience in waste, industrial or similar sectors, or with telematics, would be an advantage
Qualifications
Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business or equivalent experience
CPC in Road Haulage
CILT membership or a postgraduate qualification in Supply Chain or Operations would be an advantage
