About the Role
Our client seeks a highly organized and detail-oriented Logistics Operations Specialist to join their team in Sunderland . This role is pivotal in ensuring the seamless execution of daily transportation operations, from coordinating schedules to managing carrier relationships. You will work closely with drivers, warehouse staff, and management to optimize efficiency and maintain high standards of service delivery within the Driving & Transport industry. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving, contributing to the overall success of our logistics network.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage the movement of goods, ensuring timely and cost-effective transportation.
- Oversee daily dispatch activities, assigning routes and loads to drivers based on efficiency and availability.
- Track shipments in real-time, providing updates to stakeholders and proactively addressing any potential delays or issues.
- Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers and carriers, negotiating rates and ensuring service level agreements are met.
- Analyze operational data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for process improvement within the logistics chain.
Requirements
- Proven experience in logistics, supply chain, or a related role within the Driving & Transport sector.
- Strong understanding of transportation regulations, documentation, and best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced operational environment.
