Logistics Planner

About the Role

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and forward-thinking Logistics Planner to manage and optimize transportation and delivery schedules for their operations based in Bristol . This role is crucial for ensuring the efficient and cost-effective movement of goods, requiring a deep understanding of routing, scheduling, and carrier management. You will be responsible for planning daily logistics activities, resolving any scheduling conflicts, and working closely with drivers and dispatch teams to meet delivery targets. This is a hands-on role within our Bristol logistics hub.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and schedule daily transportation and delivery routes for optimal efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
• Coordinate with drivers and transport teams to ensure timely pickups and deliveries.
• Monitor shipment progress and proactively address any delays or issues.
• Maintain accurate records of all transportation activities and associated costs.
• Negotiate rates and terms with third-party logistics providers where applicable.
• Analyze logistics data to identify areas for improvement in routing and scheduling.

Requirements

• Previous experience in logistics planning, dispatch, or transportation coordination.
• Strong understanding of route planning software and transportation management systems (TMS).
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
• Ability to communicate effectively with drivers, management, and external partners.
• Problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
