Logistics Planner

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and strategic Logistics Planner to optimize their transportation and distribution networks in Portsmouth . You will be responsible for planning and coordinating the movement of goods, ensuring cost-effectiveness, timeliness, and reliability. This role requires a strong understanding of supply chain operations , route optimization, and carrier management. The ideal candidate will possess excellent analytical skills and the ability to manage complex logistical challenges, contributing to the efficient and successful delivery of products to customers, working within a hybrid model that balances office collaboration with remote flexibility.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and schedule shipments and transportation routes to meet delivery deadlines and cost targets.
• Negotiate rates and contracts with shipping carriers and third-party logistics providers.
• Monitor and track shipments, providing updates to stakeholders and resolving any issues.
• Analyse transportation data to identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation regulations and documentation requirements.
• Collaborate with warehouse and sales teams to forecast demand and manage inventory flow.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Logistics Planner or in a similar transportation role.
• Strong knowledge of transportation management systems (TMS) and WMS.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
